It's Good to be Timmy Abrams

I wish I had my cats' lives. Look at the smile on Timmy's little face. If he's not outside chasing bugs, squirrels and salamanders, climbing trees or being terrorized by the tom cat, he's fast asleep somewhere, cuddled up, just dreaming happy dreams. What a life.

Here are some kids playing in a Charlotte park. I may be biased, but I do think we have a beautiful city. I feel so blessed to have found my way to Charlotte.

And for the last time, this is the last report on Dude. He came back from his cruise, we saw each other, talked, things seemed okay, and I haven't heard from him since Tuesday morning, it's now late Friday. So, believe me, this is the last time you will hear about him, and it's the last time he's going to be hearing from me. Emily and Mom, I have failed you once again. I thought just because someone was nice to their mother, sweet and loving to me, that he might actually have boyfriend/husband potential. Very disappointing stuff. I think I'll stick with my bad boys and have me some fun!

Time to Blog

Haven't had much to say lately, but my new camera has inspired me. First of all we have Noah, who was sitting in an armchair his parents were returning to Sam's Club. Behind him is his mom, Heather, and his sister Ainsley. His Dad Chuck is seen pushing him toward the store. They were a very sweet family and indulged me as I jumped out of the car and asked to take their photos.

I'm also including a photo of my new roommate Dan buying the new Harry Potter book. Ladies (mom and Emily), he is recently single! And a nice guy.

Nothing much for me to report. Just plugging away, working and enjoying summer. It's been hot, but not as humid as I remember other summers in NC. Still marketing Pre-Paid but also doing some marketing, and that is lots of fun.

By the way, if you're riding a bike, wear your helmet. My friend took a dive from her bicycle and is really struggling to get back on her feet, and she wasn't wearing her helmut. Be careful

I made it through yet another birthday

This is an email that went to my friends from Girls Night Out. I thought I'd just put it verbatim on my blog:

To my lady friends,

I had probably the best birthday ever last night (excluding last years, thanks to Terry & Nina) and I wanted to thank everyone who joined us at Phil & Tony's.

To those of you who couldn't make it, the surprise was two-fold. Yes, it was my birthday, but I didn't tell too many people because I'd rather have the focus on my friends and not on me, and the second surprise was that we had the world famous magician, Hannibal, perform his feats of magic for us. He was a blast! He was funny, adorable and performed unbelievable magic. Everyone was blown away.

The evening started out with Terry Sullivan herding some geese across the street. One of them was not happy with her help and hissed fiendishly at her. After a quick jaunt across the busy intersection, they turned around and headed right back to the lake.

Then our friends started to show up at the restaurant. Some of the women knew each other from last time, some made new friendships. As Michelle said, it was an eclectic mix of women. Drinks and food were ordered and our waitress, who was also called Sarah, managed to keep a cool head and take care of everyone. Hannibal showed up at 8:00 and the real fun began. Make sure you take a look at the photos of Michelle earnestly going through a deck of cards, looking for a
specific card, only to finally look up and see it on Hannibal's glasses. The look on her face was priceless.

Well, the evening would not be complete without a birthday cake, and Nancy Tarbis surprised me, the birthday gal, with a beautiful, yummy ice cream cake from Ben & Jerry's.

The next Girls Night Out will be in August and I hope to see you all there! I'll let you know soon what the date is so you can plan in advance! Becky T. - you'd better be there next time! I missed you.

(P.S. - if anyone wants an awesome magician, go to Hannibal's website: www.GoMagicBoy.com)

The Fairy Tale is Over

Well, happy belated 4th of July. I thought I had a good one, but the outcome sucks. Dude texted me and invited me to go on a golf outing for the 4th. I hadn't heard from him since he had to take a few days to figure some things out so I wasn't sure what to do but decided it would be a chance to talk. And it turned out to be a great day. I met some nice people and got to understand the mystique of this thing they call golf, and on the way home got to talk to dude and have a heart to heart. But unfortunately, I guess I was just talking to myself because I got stood up again this weekend. Ouch. My ego is really taking a beating. I think I'm just going back to my solitary life with my cats and my new camera. I can't take this getting close to someone and allowing myself some happiness just to be stomped on. Not much fun at all. Bring on the broke musicians! That I can handle. Nice guys who aren't so nice are a big let down. Broke musicians are always a let down, so no surprises there. Just lots of fun.

Work is still going slowly but I can feel the growth in myself. I'm self-assured and know my product. It feels great. I just need to stick it out. I've put too much effort into this to abandon it.

The weather is muggy and yucky but it's manageable. I love it all. My life is good. Just me and the cats against the world.
My biggest fear is that I would become an old maid with a house full of cats, and I might just be headed down that path!

We're Back In Business

So, I finally have a camera. I decided to upgrade to a Digital SLR so I'm very, VERY happy. I've never owned such a beautiful camera. I took a bunch of photos around uptown and Noda today. I'm putting together a portfolio of photos for a realtor that I'm working with, that way we won't have to purchase stock photography. It was boiling hot today! Only about 92 degrees but muggy and horrible.

Then of course it started raining. I was supposed to go to the Charlotte Pops outdoor concert but we weren't sure we were going with the rain, so, unfortunately I didn't take my camera. I so wish I had! We were outside in a park in Southpark and there were people from all over Charlotte, young, old, white, black. So much fun. The weather turned cooler and they ended the evening with fireworks since this was the last night of the summer series. It was pretty awesome.

Well, I guess I'll be single again tomorrow (Mom and Emily). Dude is being a jerk. Stood me up AGAIN on Saturday night, haven't heard from him since this morning so I'm going to pull the plug tomorrow unless he has some amazing excuse, which I doubt. I'm very sad, but I can't say I didn't try with this one.

I guess I'm wanting more from this than he wants and that's okay. But I'm not sitting at home Saturday night waiting to hear from him. That's just pitiful, and I am not pitiful.

Anyway, I still had a good time tonight, and yesterday went out with some other new friends for drinks and they were a fun group. They all live on Lake Wylie and just party, party, party. That's probably too much for me, but I do deserve to have some fun sometimes, don't I?

Roommate ad went into Craigslist, so keep your fingers crossed that I find a good person. I will be doing background checks and I won't be letting just anyone in here. I don't really need to. I've been doing a lot of marketing work for the realtor and I think the Pre-Paid is about to pop, so I'm not that concerned about bills, but it would be nice to have some roommate rent coming in.
