Bark in the Park! (Part 1)

Well, it's that time of the year again - Bark in the Park! I went to my second Bark in the Park and I guess the planets aligned this year. The turn out was tremendous, the weather was PERFECT and it was just a fun, wonderful event. Last year they had terrible thunderstorms and almost shut it down, but this year it was warm and sunny and the dogs seemed to be in heaven. I guess being a cat person, I never thought about how social dogs are.

I was supposed to be a contest judge but there were plenty of people on stage lots more excited than me about doing it, so I was happy to relinquish that duty.

It was kind of bitter sweet to see all the vendors, many of whom had been my advertisers, and to know that without the magazine I wasn't a part of that pet world any more. On the other hand it just inspired me to get back into it once I establish my finances.

We had two weeks of school enrollments for the identity theft product but the turn out wasn't what we expected. The best part about it was that we learned so much and it helped us refine our presentation and showed us what to do and not do. We also had a good meeting with one of the sports franchises in town and have about three more major meetings set up in the next week and a half, so I know I’m making in-roads.

Now for the dating scene, AHHHHHHH! I am done, I am done, I am done. I had a profile up on Yahoo Personals and barely got any notice and then I had to par that down to anyone that would interest me. It's just sad. I think my new take is to just love my life, cuddle with my cats and be grateful that I don't have to answer to anyone or give up my alone time. I hate to be so selfish and believe me, I do want a companion, but I'm probably better off just worrying about me and not having to meet someone else's expectations and demands. Right?

Ari Gold Said it, Not Me

Ari Gold, the slimy agent in Entourage, said the funniest thing on the show on Sunday, (I'm paraphrasing): I didn't go to the Lakers game because they were playing the f--king Bobcats!

Wow, slap in the face to my new hometown! Cracked me up.

Here's a photo of my friend Diane with her 4 1/2 week old son Julian. Isn't he awesome? I refused to hold him. He's still too young for me. I like it when babies are older. Diane didn't take offense.

Then I had some time to kill yesterday so I went by the Rosedale Historic Site which was a plantation and they've preserved the main house and done some excavations of the other buildings. I was trying to get that little shiver that you get when you pass through historic sites and you feel a remnant of the era, but I wasn't feeling it. It was strange to be standing on a former plantation with cars whizzing behind me on Tryon. A lot of times I forget that I'm in the south. I need to learn more about our history.

What's up with this City?

Well, first things first, before the rant. Check out how big Little Timmy is. He can barely fit on the chair with Sam.

Now for the rant. What is up with this city? How can you have a band called "Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band" and then have a crowd of 17-21 year old white kids? And why would you give yourself such a great name and then be some kind of stoner funk band? Very weird. All in all a very disappointing evening in Noda. Although we did see some great hula hooping at the drum circle.

I've got to find some good music and a diverse crowd in Charlotte. I'm starting to lose my patience with you guys!

One little piece of seriousness, I have been totally unraveled by seeing Virginia Tech alumni wearing their school t-shirts and sweatshirts. My heart goes out to them.

Spring is almost here

Just got back from visiting family. We met in Buffalo, NY (Niagara Falls photos), spent 3 nights in the Allegheny Forest in Pennsylvania, and then had Passover in Youngstown, Ohio with my dad's side of the family. When I got back to Charlotte my garden was in full spring outburst mode. Weeds had shot up everywhere and flowers were blooming. The trees that were leafless when I left are half way back to leafs. But then the temperatures dropped dramatically, as I guess they've done in most parts of the north and also the east coast. At least the sun is still shining!
