Oprah Made Me Cry

Oh boy. I just finished watching the Oprah Winfrey special. No, not the Oscars with Julia Robert being goofy with George Clooney, the show about her Leadership Academy in South Africa. It was so moving. It just makes you want to drop to your knees, kiss the ground and give thanks for every little thing we have and take for granted in America. I got very, very teary eyed. I'm not really a big Oprah fan, but she's done a wonderful thing with her school. I hope it inspires other people to make positive changes in the world.

If you look at my photos you'll see an amazing natural detoxification that I stumbled across. I was shopping at Nude Food Organic Market in Noda and ran across Lisa Merrick, who was giving Tim a foot detox. You place your feet in water and the toxins seep out of the bottoms of your feet. The water was a really yucky brown, green and black, but each color signifies an impurity. Well unfortunately, I didn't take very good notes. Call or email Lisa if you want to learn about it: 704-608-1580, naturalhealingwaters@yahoo.com. As you detoxify over a few sessions, the water gets lighter. Very interesting stuff.

And what about those Oscars? I was pretty bored, and I usually love the Oscars. I fell asleep before Martin Scorsese got his Oscar. Wish I had seen that historic moment.

I'm trying really hard to find the good in every situation and think positively. I want 2007 to be a banner year for me, both financially, romantically and spiritually. Keep your fingers crossed!

Oh, almost forgot, that's Jaye Delai doing some kind of promotional thing for The Lion King and his radio station. He's got the best smile. I was on Tryon picking up sandwiches for a meeting and he was across the street in front of the theater. We were yelling back and forth. It's times like that that I really love Charlotte and it's smallness. If it was LA, I would have probably been arrested.

Peace Caravan, kind of

Tuesday, 2/13, I was lucky enough to participate in Mayor Pat McCrory's Caravan to Raleigh. Five busloads of concerned Charlotte residents trekked to the state capitol to speak with legislators about the crime issues in the city. I personally have never felt threatened but I hear story after story of home burglaries and car break-ins. The problem is that the offenders have a revolving door. The police keep arresting the same criminals and then prosecution takes an incredibly long time (because of the lack of DA's) to go to trial. After that there's no room in the jails so they're back out on the street quickly. It was an exhausting day but I think very productive. The Hospitality & Tourism Alliance helped the Mayor's office put together the trip and they went all out to make us comfortable. The press was there in droves and the politicians actually listened to the stories. I sat in the bus with 2 moms who lost their teenage sons to senseless violence. It was very sad.

The rest of the week has flown by. I couldn't believe it was already Friday. I feel like I'm not achieving enough, every day! And then I just have to back off and realize I'm only human. Cats & Dogs of Charlotte is starting to come together (the electronic version!). We have our cover, Blair Miller, and his two boxers. I'm very excited. I still need to connect with the advertisers. It takes time!!!

Before & After and IT'S SNOWING IN CHARLOTTE!

Woke up this morning to snow. What a treat. Except now it's beginning to become ice. I guess I got one of my wishes for 2007! The city of Charlotte is shut down.

I also finally bit the bullet and dyed my hair. Please do not think that my nose is as big as it looks in this photo with the gray hair! I swear it's not! Well...maybe it is. Maybe that's why I'm not meeting men in Charlotte.

Speaking of men, now that I look 10 years younger, I'd better find me someone. Emily, hands off! There's not room enough in this town for two single brunettes. And I still have your rosary from Jerusalem. Oh, and we should move forward with the t-shirts.

Back to rest of my audience - Mom - I look forward to seeing you in March!!!
