Couldn't Resist

Couldn't resist this photo of Vida, an inhouse cat at Atrium Animal Hospital warming his butt on the copy machine (what a "copy cat"...).

EMILY - where are you? I've been calling and emailing, maybe you're silently reading my blog. I know you're busy but we need to do the t-shirts. We're missing Christmas sales!

And finally, yes, I'm still on Match.com, and yes, finally got a good laugh, when a Deacon from a Baptist Church invited me for coffee. And you know I'm going. He sounds like a real character. Got to check it out.

This one slimy creep sent the same email, verbatim, to me and my friend. It was sickening. I'm not going to go into details because I'm on a blog, but ladies, watch out for yourselves. There are so many schemes and just bad people wanting to prey on vulnerable people. Try to be careful. And get identity theft protection - www.prepaidlegal.com/hub/saraabrams !! Sorry but had to go there. I'm just trying to make some money and help people out.

Tomorrow's a new day. Tomorrow will bring new adventures to share with you. Everyday is a blessing, everyday I will try to visualize peace, not only for myself but for everyone I love, and those living in turmoil.

Winter - Soup

Well, the weather's been absolutely gorgeous this Thanksgiving weekend. I tried to get out and enjoy it a bit and get my exercise quota up. I'm sure I negated the benefits by walking to Starbucks, devouring a high calorie Frappacino, and then walking to the Greenway with Terry. While out there I ran into a woman that I network with and we made plans to get together and compare publishing notes. I also went out a lot in the evenings during this weekend and met 3 nice men, none of who have called (is that correct English?), so I guess that means they're married or in relationships, or not into me. Which is fine too. The available men status in this town is just zero. Especially in my age range. And Match.com…nothing. I finally had to extend my talons to Atlanta. Now you’re talking cute men!

Now let me explain the attached photo to this blog. It's soup. Yes, it's officially winter and I was craving soup. I think I made one of the world masterpiece soups. Take a look at that photo! Do you see black beans, red beans, okra, squash, and on and on? Yes, it was a hell of a soup. Now bring on the snow! I’m ready.

Tomorrow's a new day. Tomorrow will bring new adventures to share with you. Everyday is a blessing, everyday I will try to visualize peace, not only for myself but for everyone I love, and those living in turmoil.

Timmy Goes Outside

I know the world is in turmoil and everything's going to crap, but since I'm feeling helpless to do anything about it, I'm just going to write about my kitten. That may not help the world, but it will let me disappear for a minute or two into a safe place. So, I decided to give Timmy a treat and let him outside. The big cat, Sam, came to me as an outdoor cat, so he's always been allowed outside. Timmy's been desperate to join him but since I figure he's owl meat being so little, I can't really let him out. He was so happy to be outside! He was jumping around in the leaves, having a grand old time. Sam kept an eye on him and also chased him around a bit. Then Tim decided to climb a tree. Zip, up the trunk he went, about halfway and then he realized he would have to get down, so he started scooting back down. He tried that a second time and I decided not to panic. He is a cat after all, cats climb trees. I figured he would be able to make it back down, which he did. Then he discovered the area under the porch where Sam likes to hang out when it's cold or wet out, except he couldn't figure how to get back out and tried to squeeze himself through the wooden lattice. After helping him out of there I scooped him up (much to his protests) and brought him inside, safe and sound. This adventure is sure to be continued. (Sorry if I've lost the reader. My life isn't all that interesting.)

After Thanksgiving on Thursday evening, my friend Terry and I went out dancing. Quite the experience, two white girls in an all black private party. The sistas were not too happy with us, but we still had a good time. On the way back I told her that I had heard that the Carolina Place Mall was opening around midnight for shopping but she didn't believe me. We drove by and started to laugh our heads off. The parking lot was jammed, the mall was packed, people actually had gotten out of bed to begin their Black Friday shopping at 1 in the morning. I am so glad I don't buy into that craziness! But being a business woman I was happy for the merchants.

Now for what you’ve all been waiting (meaning Emily and mom, my only readers), Match.com is a hoot. It’s given my life new meaning. 80 men have viewed my profile and about 12 have winked or emailed me. Of those, 10% are good ol’ country boys who ride Harleys and like to fish, 10% have canned responses, to the point that Terry and I compared notes and we both have the same email from some freak in Maryland, 60% are old, fat and ugly, 10% don’t use spell check (automatic deduction) and 10% are maybe, kind of potentials. I’m actually waiting by the phone for one guy who really, really wanted to meet for coffee today, but he hasn’t called. So, keep your fingers crossed and continue to pray for me. More to follow!

Tomorrow's a new day. Tomorrow will bring new adventures to share with you. Everyday is a blessing, everyday I will try to visualize peace, not only for myself but for everyone I love, and those living in turmoil.

Happy Thanksigiving

I've been back in town for over a week and finally on Tuesday I felt like I was back in the game. I switched from working in my office to the dining room table (BAD habit!) but the change of venue helped me get organized and prepared to take on the world. A lot of times when I travel "things" crystallize for me, including a new sense of purpose, direction and drive, but this time it took me awhile. I wasn't sure if I should be in Charlotte, I wasn't sure if I should be doing the magazine, a lot of "wasn't sure's" were running through my mind, and then suddenly I was struck with how good my life is and what a wonderful future I'm going to have IF I stay on track and remain focused. My problem is that I'm a little scattered with what I'm doing, but I have narrowed it down to three main areas and just have to regain that enthusiasm and belief and continue to make a name for myself and start to make some money. I've found that everything I've taken on takes a lot of time to establish and build and giving up is really for losers. I want to continue to succeed and build my future and I do believe that my future is right here in Charlotte, for now.

So, with that in mind, Happy Thanksgiving. Have a wonderful holiday. Thanksgiving is truly my most favorite holiday of all the secular and religious holidays. There's a purity about Thanksgiving that they (the "man") hasn't been able to take away through commercialization. It's just a beautiful holiday. The very idea that someone said, "Let's designate a day to give thanks" is so simple and brilliant. And even though I don't eat meat, as in turkey, it's also my favorite food of any holiday. I also love the weather around Thanksgiving.

I'm attaching photos of some kids who had camped outside of Target to be the first to get the new Play Station. It was bitterly cold that day, so God bless them. I mean, it's just a damn game. But you've got to give them credit for their perseverance. I'm also attaching a little, dirty white puppy from my trip to Jerusalem, along with a goat herd up in the mountains.

NEWSFLASH - I'm going to put up a profile on Match.com so my blogs will probably contain some of the more interesting encounters, although I will try to be nice and not show photos and not use real names in order to protect the unsuspecting. Keep your fingers crossed as your fearless blogger enters into the world of dating Southern men. Maybe I'll get lucky and find an ex-pat New York Jew who has moved down here and has that cynical, funny take on the world, along with a few Woody Allen type neuroses. Now that would brighten my day!

Tomorrow's a new day. Tomorrow will bring new adventures to share with you. Everyday is a blessing, everyday I will try to visualize peace, not only for myself but for everyone I love, and those living in turmoil.
