It's Getting Hot in Here!

Get this. The alternator in my Nissan Sentra, not even a year old, went out on Friday. Thank God it was under warranty. And yesterday the air conditioning in the house went kaput and I have to replace the central air unit. I'd better get serious about making money cause the air thing is a serious hit to the old pocket book. These are the times I wish I were married and there was someone else to help share the financial burden. Alas, it's just me. And even writing this almost makes me ashamed with all the turmoil in the world and the people in Israel and Lebanon losing their homes, their livelihoods, their sanity.

Let's move on! Friday night gallery crawl. Of course all my friends flaked, but I managed to drag my friend Bonnie down to Noda. She had never been to gallery crawl. Of course we went to Dog Bar for a Corona and peeked into the galleries. We seem to always wind down at Rat's Nest. Usually the owner, Brian, is out in the back playing drums while someone else plays guitar and sings, but this time they had a surprise. Brian was nowhere to be found and instead a Filipino Elvis impersonator was singing his little heart out. Bonnie and I sat there enthralled for at least 30 minutes. Check this guy out. He's a good singer and he dresses the part (cape, jeweled belt, gold shoes). You can hire him for a party or an event: www.Renelvis.com

On Saturday Alan Hersh and I went to see Shear Madness. I'm not into plays because I find them very static, and just prefer and love movies, but I must say this was a clever little thing. It's a spoofy, funny, murder mystery, and they involve the audience for a part of it. It's amazing how they manage to have an answer to every question the audience throws their way. They also improv a lot and crack each other up. It was funny to watch them try and keep their composure through some of it. I know you're not supposed to take photos but I snuck one in anyway, just cause I'm such a rebel.

On the way home extreme amounts of lightening crackled across the sky and we got caught in a tremendous downpour. The rain was coming down sideways in sheets. We actually had to pull over and wait it out for about 15 minutes. When we got on the freeway cars were driving with their flashers on because it was so hard to see. The next day it was a nice break from the heat and the humidity, but I must say that the extreme weather is taking some getting used to. In Los Angeles once you hit summer it was just hot, day after day. No storms, no surprises. Except for those nasty earthquakes. Yeah, forgot about those guys.

Okay, that's enough. Please pray, or envision, or chant, or whatever it takes, but send out good thoughts to the Middle East, Iraq, Iran, and let's add Korea in there also.

Tomorrow's a new day. Tomorrow will bring new adventures to share with you. Everyday is a blessing, everyday I will try to visualize peace, not only for myself but for everyone I love, and those living in turmoil.

Sara
